Edinburgh

Have you ever been to a city that embodies your definitions of perfect? One where you want to walk for hours exploring every corner and soak up every second of your time there? Well Edinburgh is that city for me. From the rich landscape and incredible mixture of Medieval and Georgian architecture, to the amazing food and feeling of home, Edinburgh had it all. Grace and I felt so at home there and I couldn't help but imagine living there. It is everything I had dreamed of for a city and more. The beautiful Christmas lights at night and the sights of small parties commencing around the fire inspired thoughts of Charles Dickens "A Christmas Carol". It felt as if we had stepped back into time, but this may have been influenced by the fact that we were staying in an old Georgian townhouse in Edinburgh's New Town.

Everywhere we walked, we found beautiful little shops and restaurants in the most amazing Georgians buildings. Exploring the New Town and its many crescents inspired beyond belief and renewed my love for Georgian architecture. The balance between green spaces and the built environments was incredible. Walking through the many parks, Grace and I never felt like we in a big city but rather in a small picturesque town. Scotland had already won us over and we hadn't even made it to the Highlands yet. Just as Ireland made me feel at home during Thanksgiving, Scotland did the same for us during Christmas. Here are just a few pictures of the beautiful architecture and surrounding vegetation in Edinburgh.
