Located between Union Station and the United States Capitol Building is an undeveloped portion of land that leaves a void in the fabric of the National Mall. For my fourth year design studio, I was tasked with the design of a new hotel to fill in this void along the Mall. With a site as important as the one I was given, I decided to look at French Neoclassical precedents as well as America’s own Neoclassical architect, John Russel Pope.
