Nestled between two elementary schools in the Washington D.C. neighborhood of Georgetown, is a plot of land that is currently underutilized. For many people that work in the area, Georgetown is out of their price range. This causes them to seek accommodations else where making their commute to work long and expensive.
For this project, we were tasked at making a small housing development that would be able to offer small apartments to these workers without making the buildings look like a typical affordable housing project. To do this, I included several different unit sizes at varying price points to help subsidize the more affordable options. To tie the development into the existing city fabric, I created a series of public and semi-public spaces to allow for gatherings and create a sense of community within the larger neighborhood.
